Ingredients And Chemicals To Avoid In Skin Care

Natural products have been on the scene longer than we can remember, however over the last couple of years more people have invested in using them more than ever. Organic, natural, and eco-friendly are all terms that have become familiar to many of us. Incorporating natural and organic products possess many added benefits that can make your skin flourish. We know many products boast and scream ‘organic’ ‘cruelty-free natural ingredients that are not tested on animals, it doesn’t mean they are necessarily good for our skin and hair. You will be surprised to know many contain harmful ingredients such as phthalates, parabens, petroleum, and much more. These contentious chemicals in our beloved products can sometimes make it difficult to identify them due to having other names. Toxic ingredients to avoid in your hair products are mineral oil, synthetic fragrances, silicones can have deadly consequences. If you’re ready to say adios to these ingredients that offer absolutely nothing for you, we share our tips on how you can stay away from them forever.

Tip 1: Read the label first!

Scrutinise, analyse, whatever you need to do sis just make sure you read the label first! As we like to read the small print when it comes to important documents, we must read what goes on our skin. Get in the habit of reading the label and checking what ingredients are in the products. This will help you to identify what you shouldn’t be using.

Tip 2: Stay away from fragrances and perfumes.

Do your research first, there is no denying fragranced products can smell heavenly, but we wish the effects were the same. Fragrances are linked to several health risks that manufacturers fail to mention. They can be highly toxic as fragrances commonly contain phthalates which have been linked to cancer, endocrine disruption, and much more. These toxic products can pass from the skin to the blood. Enough to deter you from using these products…

Tip 3: Know the difference between your chemicals.

The different names for chemicals can be overwhelming, names that are hard to pronounce. These chemicals raise more questions than answers and you should be asking yourself, ‘what are sulphates?’ ‘why are they bad’?

Tip 4: Avoid plastic

Every year, approximately 8 million tons of plastics are thrown in the ocean. There are thought to be 51 trillion microplastics in the ocean, this can cause harm to our ecosystems and our bodies. Consuming less plastic can save animals and save human beings.

Tip 5: Stick to organic brands like us

For one, you know what is in your products as we are incredibly transparent about what we put in our products. Organic products are not only good for the skin and hair, but they are also good for the environment. All our products are eco-friendly and safe to use for your children.
